Founded in 1960, the department offers BS, MS and PhD degrees in Civil Engineering, and has an enrollment of about 800 students. The BS and MS programs, which passed IEET Washington Accord member engineering education accreditation, put emphasis on areas such as geotechnical, structural and transportation engineering, as well as information technology and construction management.
The department has 19 full-time faculty members, including 12 professors, 3 associate professors and 4 assistant professors, all with PhD degrees.
The undergraduate program has two divisions, Engineering Infrastructure and Construction Business. Engineering infrastructure emphasizes with the engineering aspects of civil engineering. On the other hand, Construction Business is a cross discipline program that combines business, finance, management and law with engineering.
The 3 wind tunnel test facilities and wind engineering researches are the most noticeable research activities of the department.
